Tri-Town Development Corporation, the entity created to over see the development of the naval air station property and to represent the  interests of the 3 towns in which the base property lies, is proposing NEW LEGISLATION that extends the life of Tri-Town. Tri-Town claims they need to extend the term of Tri-Town for the purpose of bonding the project. Under the current legislation, Tri-Town would expire in 2018 but could continue for an additional 5 years if so voted by the 3 towns, Weymouth, Abington and Rockland. While an extension for Tri-Town is most likely necessary for bonding purposes, why is Tri-Town rewriting the entire parcel of legislation including items not related to bonding the project? Including eliminating the 3 towns right to vote on that extension.

The following letter was written by an East Weymouth residents and are her thoughts but also is a good overview of the proposed legislation.

(if you have concerns about this project, and this project will affect every part of this town, write to our state legislatures and our town council and express your concerns., If they don’t hear from us, the residents, our representatives are going to think everything being done is okay)
